A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear Valued Members:

As we kick off 2025, I'd like to thank our members, employees, and Board of Directors for trusting and supporting Connect Credit Union since our inception in 1962. We've come a long way in 63 years and our commitment to our members and local communities has never wavered.

In 2024, we updated our cards program to allow for future products such as digital issuance and implemented an improved rewards program for our credit card. We upgraded our website chat, video and co-browse product with AI. We expanded our commitment to our Vision and Values with additional training with our employees. We continued to enhance the measures we take to combat fraud, including text authentication for mobile banking, and continually find ways to educate our members about the benefits & security of our mobile offerings.

Looking forward to 2025, we're excited to work on projects to improve our communication during the loan and new account applications process. We want to ensure all members are aware of our diverse products, including loans and deposit products with attractive rates. Connect Credit Union stands ready to assist you with your financial needs.

I'd like to thank you all again for placing your trust in Connect Credit Union. We are excited for our continued growth as a financial institution and will not lose sight of what is most important to us: the members we proudly serve. We look to continue to create memorable connections in our interactions, Together, on this road we call Life.

Sincerely,
Scott Meyer

Identity Theft Resources

Identity Theft Resources to Protect You and Your Family

When it comes to protecting your finances and personal information, few things are more important than having reliable Identity Theft Resources. Identity theft is consistently the number one complaint to the Federal Trade Commission, and with widespread data breaches impacting millions of people, everyone is at risk.

It doesn’t matter how old you are, where you live, or how careful you may be—identity theft can happen to anyone. That’s why Connect Credit Union offers members access to comprehensive identity theft protection and recovery services through our checking accounts.

Along with protection and recovery support, our Connect checking accounts include these valuable benefits for a small monthly Account Security Fee of $2.75. Even better, this fee is automatically waived for members who maintain a minimum combined deposit and/or loan balance of $10,000.

Why Identity Theft Resources Matter

Restoring your identity on your own can be overwhelming, stressful, and costly. Victims often face fraudulent bills, damaged credit, or even legal problems that take years to resolve. With the right resources in place, you can minimize the damage and recover faster.

Connect Credit Union has partnered with a trusted national leader in identity theft protection to provide our members with a suite of services designed to help you detect, prevent, and recover from fraud.

Identity Theft Resources Available to Members

Fully Managed Identity Theft Recovery

Our identity theft recovery services connect you with a certified, licensed Recovery Advocate who will:

  • Investigate and determine the extent of the fraud
  • Place fraud alerts with credit bureaus
  • Dispute fraudulent accounts and charges on your behalf
  • Work with banks, government agencies, and creditors to restore your good name
  • Provide follow-up support for up to 12 months

This service covers all types of identity fraud, from credit card fraud and tax fraud to employment or medical fraud. Plus, it extends to cover you and up to three generations of your family.

Please Refer to Terms and Conditions

Lost Document Replacement

If identity theft leads to lost, stolen or destroyed documents, your advocate will help you replace them—credit cards, government IDs, and more—so you can get back on track quickly.

Identity Theft Expense Reimbursement Insurance

Members may be eligible for reimbursement of up to $25,000 in expenses related to recovering from identity theft. Covered expenses include:

  • Attorneys’ fees
  • Costs of additional credit reports
  • Notarization, postage, and long-distance phone calls
  • Filing fees for applications rejected due to stolen identity
  • Lost wages from time away from work

Activation is simple: once eligible, you’ll receive instructions from our partner or you can visit their website and click the red “Sign Up” button.

NO CREDIT CHECK LOAN PROGRAM

Connect Credit Union works hard to provide a solution for all your lending needs.  With our No Credit Check Loan program, you can apply to be prequalified for a personal loan of up to $1200*.  To qualify for a No Credit Check Loan, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a member of Connect Credit Union for at least ONE (1) year
  • Be employed with your current employer for at least TWO (2) years
  • All your Connect Credit Union Accounts are in good standing:
    • Your accounts currently have a positive balance
    • Your loans are paid current
  • You have an established relationship with Connect Credit Union that includes AT LEAST ONE (1) of the following:
    • Payroll Deduction of at least $65 to your Connect CU account
    • Direct Deposit from your current employer to Connect CU
    • Paying as agreed or have paid as agreed on loan balances of at least $5,000 or more within the last 24 months with Connect CU
  • Your current No Credit Check Loan is paid in full

If you feel that you meet the above requirements and have the $40 NON-REFUNDABLE application fee available in your account, you may apply for a No Credit Check Loan online.

*The No Credit Check Loan is a progressive loan program that allows members to borrow higher loan amounts and establish credit history through short term loans.  The initial loan amount is $800 and progresses to higher loan amounts of $1000 and $1200. Once a No Credit Check Loan is paid in full, a member may apply for another No Credit Check Loan.  A member may only have one (1) No Credit Check Loan at a time.  Members must make at least five (5) months of payments as agreed in order to qualify for a higher loan amount and loan amounts are granted in progression ($800, $1000, $1200.)

The USPS is the most recent victim of a data breach. For approximately 750,000 USPS employees and retirees, compromised data includes names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, addresses, beginning and end dates of employment, and emergency contact information for employees. For the approximately 2.9 million customers, compromised information includes names, home addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses.

Individuals are encouraged to report any suspected instances of identity fraud to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov. Additionally, you may contact one of our branches to be submitted to our Identity Care Recovery Center if you find suspicious activity involving the use of your identification information.

It is important to know the following information:

  • It has been reported that the USPS will provide monitoring services for individuals whose information was compromised. HOWEVER, credit monitoring only alerts you to new credit or changes to your existing credit. Since credit card information was not included in the compromised data, a criminal use of your data may not trigger a credit monitoring alert.
  • Connect Credit Union includes identity theft protection for all its Checking Account Members, unless you have opted out of the program.  If you suspect identity fraud of any kind, whether financial or non-financial, even if it is not connected to this incident, just let us know.  You will be assigned to a certified, professional Recovery Advocate at no cost to you.  These professionals are standing by to answer questions, place fraud alerts, research potential fraud, dispute fraudulent transactions on your behalf, and perform the legwork to return you to pre-theft status, no matter how long it takes.  If you suspect any fraudulent transactions, please contact Connect Credit Union Member Services immediately at 954-730-2047 (Broward) or 800-445-7418 (Toll Free).

Be wary of emails or telephone calls that request information. Neither the USPS nor Connect Credit Union will ask you to provide any information in relation to this possible data breach incident.

Below are recommended steps to remain vigilant against possible identity fraud:

  1. Check your bank statements. Review your statements carefully and repeatedly. Any purchases, large or small, should be verified as a purchase you made.
  2. Get Help. You need to notify us as soon as possible if you see any suspicious activity. If you are concerned about fraud beyond the transactions on your current account, you may have access to an Identity Theft Protection program that includes Fully Managed Identity Fraud Research, Remediation, and Recovery Services. We will submit your name to our Recovery Care Center and, within 24 business hours, you will be contacted by a Recovery Advocate who will investigate the situation and remediate any fraud on your behalf. Contact us with any questions.
  3. Take Action. If you suspect that your identity has been compromised, you can place a fraud alert on your credit file by calling any one of the three major credit reporting agencies shown below. A fraud alert is a notation on your credit file to warn credit issuers that there may be a problem. The credit issuer is asked to contact you at the telephone number that you supply to validate that you are the person applying for the credit. This is not the same as credit monitoring.

Transunion: 1.800.916.8800
Experian: 1.888.397.3742
Equifax: 1.800.685.1111

In accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act, it is permissible for consumers to request a free copy of their credit report once every 12 months from each of the three major credit reporting agencies (TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax). To order a free credit report:

Online: www.annualcreditreport.com or by Telephone: 1.877.322.8228

We appreciate your trust in our financial institution. It is important to us to provide professional identity theft protection services for our Connect Credit Union Checking Members for any identity theft incident that affects you and/or your family.

Contactless Cards with EMV

We're committed to your security. And soon, we'll be bringing you a new level of protection by making contactless chip cards available to all of our card holders.

Contactless Chip Card FAQ’s

What is a Contactless card?
Your contactless card uses short-range wireless technology to make secure payments between a contactless card and a contactless enabled checkout terminal. When you tap your card near the Contactless symbol, your payment is sent for authorization

Is tapping to pay secure?
Yes, absolutely. Your contactless card has the same secure encryption technology as your current EMV chip card.

Where can you use your card?

Retailers who accept contactless payments will display the contactless symbol. Look out for it wherever you shop.

How long do I need to tap my card on the checkout terminal?
One to two seconds should do it.

Will the card reader activate my card if I walk past the terminal?
No. Your card must be extremely close to the reader- typically between two and four centimeters and the retailer must have first entered the amount of your purchase for you to approve.

Can I use my card for everyday transactions or at non-chip terminals?
Yes! Your contactless card will continue to have contact functionality so it can still be inserted into an EMV reader and will also maintain the magnetic stripe on the back for those merchants who have  not yet upgraded to EMV.

How do I get a contactless Debit Card?
All members with debit cards will begin to receive contactless debit cards as their cards expire.

If you have any additional questions, please connect with us at 954-730-2047.
